What Our Clients Say
Who can sponsor a spouse for a UK visa?
Your partner must be a British citizen or settled in the UK, for example with indefinite leave to remain or settled status. In some cases a partner with refugee status or humanitarian protection can also sponsor. Both of you must be 18 or over, and the relationship must be genuine.
What income does my sponsor need?
The usual minimum is £29,000 gross per year. You can also meet the requirement with savings (£88,500 if there is no income, or £16,000 plus 2.5 times the income shortfall) or a mix of income and savings. Rules and thresholds can change, so we confirm the current figure at your free consultation.
How much does the UK spouse visa cost?
The UK Home Office fee for applying from outside the UK is £2,064 per applicant, and the Immigration Health Surcharge is £1,035 per year of leave (about £2,587.50 for 30 months). Test fees and optional visa-centre services cost extra. Government fees change from time to time, so check gov.uk for the latest amounts.
How long does a UK spouse visa take from Pakistan?
The standard decision time for applications made outside the UK is about 12 weeks from your biometrics appointment. Faster paid options may be offered at the visa centre. Missing or unclear documents are the most common cause of delay, so a complete file saves time.
How long is the visa valid, and what happens next?
The first visa is usually granted for 33 months. You then apply to extend it from inside the UK, and settlement (indefinite leave to remain) has normally followed after 5 years in total. The government has announced changes to settlement rules, so we explain what applies to your date of application.
Do I need an English language test?
Yes, unless you are exempt. You normally need an approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) at level A1 in speaking and listening. Exemptions include nationals of majority English-speaking countries, applicants with a verified English-taught degree, and certain age or medical cases.
Is my Nikah enough to prove the marriage?
A marriage that is valid in Pakistan is recognised, but it must be properly registered and documented. You will need the Nikahnama and the NADRA Marriage Registration Certificate, with certified English translations. If anything is missing or inconsistent, we help you fix it before you apply.
Can I work and study in the UK on a spouse visa?
Yes. A spouse visa lets you work, run a business and study. You cannot claim most public funds, and your sponsor must be able to support you without them.
My earlier UK visa was refused. Can I still apply?
Yes, but you must declare every refusal. We first read the refusal letter to understand the reasons. Depending on the case, the best option may be a stronger new application or a challenge to the decision. We tell you honestly which one fits.
Can my children from a previous relationship come too?
Children under 18 can often apply as dependants, either with you or later. Extra evidence is needed, such as birth certificates and proof of parental responsibility or consent from the other parent. Tell us at the consultation and we add it to your checklist.
